Marking systems

Warning tapes, warning – detection tapes in theburied utilities marking system.

Increasing amount of projects in telecommunication,gas engineering, water supply systems, power industryand other branches causes more concentration of differentutilities mainly made of plastics. It brings significantdifficulties in detecting relevant cables and pipes.

Precise knowledge of the kind and location of key andsore points of the network is necessary for its failurefreework. Using warning and detection tapes along thepipelines and cables as well as additional marking in sorepoints such as network crossings, junctions at buildings,connections, branching boxes, watercourses, roads etcmakes it possible. Tape for certain network incorporation in the worksshould have the colour to conform to the standard (thecolour must correspond with the network). The tape mayhave an inscription usually in black, also to conform toconditions in force (example: ATTENTION! OPTOTELECOMMUNICATIONCABLE, ATTENTION! WATER MAINS, GAS,and others). The PTS Rabka Company created a markingsystem using warning and warning - detection tapes.

Advantages of the marking and detection markingsystem:

• early warning on possible mechanical damageof network during works;
• role of the detection factor – possibility of precisedetection of the route and depth of the pipeline(installation);
• EMS markers – possibility of detecting sore pointsand crossings with other network.
